Located right next to the train station where trains arrive from Saint Petersburg was very convenient for us. We just dropped off the suitcases on arrival and were on our way to see the Kremlin etc. The building is Stalin time architecture renovated to preserve the original decor is fantastic. The room was great and we got the 17th floor with a view of Moscow center =) Staff was nice, courteous and helpful as you'd expect from Hilton but something you would not necessarily expect in Russia where the mentality of service is in its infancy (at check-out we were presented with some bill for the minibar items we never used but they quickly settled it). They even had the adapters for the us electronics to Russian sockets. Unfortunately we did not take advantage of the pool etc as we were almost never in the hotel busy sightseeing Moscow.

After a lot of searching around on the internet, I booked this hotel for my first night in Russia because I wanted to stay somewhere somewhat familiar, where I basically knew what I'd be getting, while I eased out of my jet lag. I had cheaper accommodations for the rest of my six week stay in the country, but this hotel proved to be an excellent choice for that first night. The staff does speak English if you need them to, and the hotel has all the same amenities and comforts you expect from any Hilton...plus the hotel is beautiful and historic. The room was very comfortable and also aesthetically pleasing. The breakfast in the morning is not to be missed, with many healthy options available! This hotel does have a spa and a salon, with pretty standard pricing and service. The only negative: there isn't a lot to see in the surrounding neighborhood, although there are three main train stations right down the road, and the metro is of course nearby. I can't believe that the nightly rate was as low as it was compared to the value...I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again myself.
